Council is committed to transparent communication that is clear, timely, and helpful—keeping our community and stakeholders informed about the programs, services, and decisions that matter most.

Just as importantly, we want to create meaningful opportunities for you to engage with us. Whether it's providing feedback, sharing ideas, or simply staying informed, we’re working to ensure many voices are heard and that our communication is a two-way conversation.

Over the past 12 months, through our MV2040 consultation, we’ve heard a range of feedback from our community about how we communicate—and we’re listening.

That’s why we’re currently reviewing Council’s Communication Policy. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect on what we’ve heard from you and look at how we can do better. It’s also a timely review, helping to ensure our policy stays aligned with the Local Government Act 2020 and the 2025 Model Code of Conduct (for Councillors). Our goal is to strengthen the way we engage with you in ways that are transparent, inclusive, responsive and accessible.

We're interested in hearing from you about:

  • Overall level of support for our proposed Communications Policy
  • What transparent communication looks like for you
  • What you think about our key communications channels

Our methods of communication

Council has a range of different methods of communication that we use to inform community about our programs, different projects and other news.

  • Publications

Publications including flyers, brochures and information sheets allow Council to share information related to its activities, services and programs.

  • Content on Council's website

Council's website enables access to accurate and concise information, and where possible, enables community members and stakeholders to carry out business with Council.
