Council is seeking community feedback on its Draft Community Grants Policy.
Overview and context
Moonee Valley City Council is committed to supporting local community organisations, groups, individuals and businesses to deliver projects and activities that help make Moonee Valley an inclusive, vibrant and connected community. Our Community Grants program offers grants to help build the capacity of our community and to support projects that help us achieve our long-term community vision.
This is the final stage in a review process that commenced in 2021. During 2020/2021, the focus of the Community Grants program was on supporting the emerging needs of the community during the pandemic. In mid-2021 a grants assessment review took place and Council asked the community what kind of funding opportunities the program should include. In August 2022, Council requested an external review of the existing grants policy and program. The aim of this review was to ensure both policy and program aligned with Council’s MV2040 strategy, the Draft Community Grants Policy is the end result.
Objectives
The Policy supports community organisations, groups, individuals and local businesses seeking funding for the following objectives:
- Contribute to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental well-being of our local community
- Foster and strengthen community involvement and participation
- Address community need and make the most of unique local opportunities and strengths
- Work with Council towards achieving its MV2040 vision
- Foster community-led approaches which improve the quality of life and liveability of our neighbourhoods.
What is new in the policy?
