Moonee Valley’s long-term plan is to create a healthy city by 2040 and through delivering our strategy MV2040, we are invested in working with the community to shape the type of city and neighbourhoods we want to live in.

Involving community in decision making that impacts neighbourhoods and peoples lives is very important to us. Gaining insights, experiences, ideas and feedback from community enables Council to provide better services, places and plans that will meet community needs and support community aspirations. When you participate in our consultation projects, you are helping us understand community priorities, issues and ideas to make our city an even better place to live, work and play.

Over the last couple of years we have asked how you want to be involved in decision making in Moonee Valley. We asked how you would prefer to have conversations and get involved, what we can do to support participation and how we can ensure that our community engagement projects are genuine and meaningful opportunities.

We have learnt so much from the conversations and input we have received on how Council can plan and deliver genuine, meaningful and inclusive engagement with the community. We used this information to develop a Community Engagement Policy and Framework which was adopted by Council on 23 February 2021. You can find a copy of the documents in the Document Library.
