Council offers grants to help build the capacity of our community and to support projects that help us achieve our long-term community vision, MV2040. The Community Grants program aims to:
Improve the quality of life and liveability of our neighbourhoods
Contribute to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental wellbeing of our local community
Foster and strengthen community involvement, participation, and community led initiatives
Address community need and make the most of unique local opportunities and strengths
Work with Council to achieve its strategic goals outlined in long term plans and strategies.
Since April 2020 we’ve turned our focus towards supporting the emerging needs of the community during the pandemic. We’ve adapted the program to provide grants for business, community and artists to adapt, collaborate and reconnect as the community recovers. The COVID-19 Recovery Grants program has provided funding of over $800,000 to 141 projects since it began.
We are now planning for the next financial year 2021/22, and we want to hear from you about what kind of funding opportunities Council should be offering.
We’d like to know if we should continue providing funding that targets the impacts of the pandemic, or if we should reinstate our original grants program. Or is there a third way? Can we incorporate some of the emerging needs into the original program?
Please view the supporting documentation for information on the current and previous grant programs.
Come to an online community workshop on 6 May (10-11.30am) or 11 May (6-7.30pm)
The online survey has now closed and findings are being collated.
