East Keilor Leisure Centre redevelopment

A new state-of-the-art, fully accessible centre is due in late 2020. The existing centre will be closed until this time.

The new centre will include:

  • 50 metre heated outdoor pool
  • 25 metre indoor lap pool
  • learn to swim pool
  • dedicated hydrotherapy pool
  • spa and steam
  • indoor water playground for young children
  • café and seating area
  • new gym, group fitness and spin studios
  • crèche
  • accessible and family change rooms

Over the coming few months we will be completing important site works and relocating equipment from the centre. During this time there will be minimal impact on surrounding residents.

The demolition of the main building will occur in June to July, once extended tender negotiations are finalised with the short-listed builders. Regular updates on the project’s progress will be posted to this page.

Funding the new centre

The new centre is estimated to cost $49.9 million and we are seeking $10 million from other levels of government to help fund this vibrant community hub. We will commit the $39.9 million needed to complete the project.

We were recently successful in securing $3 million from the State Government towards this project, which is an excellent start.

We sent the existing centre out with a splash with a weekend of free activities and entertainment – thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable day!

In the coming months we will also be exploring improvements to the recreational facilities at Quinn Grove Reserve, and considering the need for additional facilities in this area. Consultation on these plans will take place later this year.
