Activity centres are vibrant places where people shop, work, connect with family and friends as well as live. They range in size, from local shopping strips to centres that include universities and major regional shopping malls. They are also great locations for new homes.

The Victorian Government is planning for more good quality and affordable homes to be built in the Niddrie and North Essendon activity centres, close to all the services, jobs and transport they have to offer.

The Department of Transport and Planning and the Victorian Planning Authority are leading this project and are engaging with local community to find out what they love and value about their area.

They are also seeking a number of community representatives to join a Community Reference Group and plan to hold two meetings in Niddrie/North Essendon during 2024. The first meeting will focus on local neighbourhood character and places of significance in the area, and is expected to take place in April 2024.
