Proposed Governance Local Law 2019

Council, at its meeting held on 27 August 2019, resolved to commence the statutory process in accordance with sections 119 and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 (the Act) to make a new Governance Local Law 2019 – Local Law No.1 of 2019 (the proposed Local Law).

The purpose of the proposed Local Law is to regulate the use of the Council’s Common Seal, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and the conduct of meetings of the Council and Special Committees. The conduct of meetings, including the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, is governed by the Meeting Procedure Protocol which is an incorporated document to the proposed Local Law.

We would like your feedback on the proposed Governance Local Law and the proposed Meeting Procedure Protocol. You can provide feedback in the following ways:

  • filling out the survey on Have Your Say Moonee Valley (below);
  • sending your submission by e-mail to council@mvcc.vic.gov.au
  • by post, addressed to the Coordinator Governance, Moonee Valley City Council, PO Box 126, Moonee Ponds Vic 3039;
  • delivering your submission in person to the Civic Centre at 9 Kellaway Avenue, Moonee Ponds

Written submissions must be received by Council by 4.00pm on Friday, 27 September 2019. Please ensure you submission is clearly marked, for example - ‘Section 223 submission on proposed Governance Local Law 2019’.
