Thank you to those who submitted their feedback on the draft Streetscape Plan. This consultation has now closed, and the plan has been updated following community feedback. The final plan can be viewed here.

Background

Council's plans to beautify, green, and provide a better pedestrian experience in Keilor Road’s Essendon North activity centre have progressed. In October 2022 Council consulted with the community about their thoughts on the section of Keilor Road between Hoffmans Road and Cooper Street. We wanted to know how the community used the street and what they would like to see in the future.

When asked what the community would like to see in the new streetscape plan, an overwhelming desire was expressed for increased greenery and canopy street tree planting followed by more seating/gathering spaces for the community. Other ideas included improved and wider footpaths, extended outdoor dining opportunities, public art, protected bike lanes, and decorative lighting. To view this consultation report, click here.

Based on the community feedback and initial site analysis, a draft Streetscape Plan was developed. In May 2023, Council consulted community about the draft plan. Overall, respondents were supportive of the plan, as reflected in the consultation report available here.

The final plan has been prepared with more detailed design of the project being considered for future implementation.
