An update on our petition
Thank you so much to all of you who have jumped on board our campaign to revitalise the Moonee Ponds Creek by signing our petition to the Shadow Minister for Environment and Water, the Hon. Tony Burke MP.
Last week we presented over 200 signatures to Shadow Minister Burke's office, which is a great effort! These signatures were gathered by Friends of Moonee Ponds Creek volunteers and Council staff at the opening of the new Boeing Reserve Pavilion, the Kensington Festival, Illuminate the River 2019, at all of Council's libraries, and on this YourSay page.
These signatures are in addition to all of those that Shadow Minister Burke has received through his website directly.
Over the last few days, Shadow Minister Burke has begun announcing the projects which have been successful in receiving a funding commitment under the Federal Opposition's Urban Rivers fund. We've been excited to see other rivers in the West, including the Werribee River ($3 million) and Stony Creek ($2 million) successfully receive funding announcements under the initiative.
There's still time to sign the petition for funding for the Moonee Ponds Creek. Visit the Shadow Minister's website here, or fill out our form under the 'Surveys and Forms' tab on this page and we'll pass on your name and suburb without your contact details.
