"One of the worst planning errors in Melbourne's history": our plan for the Creek, in The Age

We were thrilled to see the Chain of Ponds plan for the Moonee Ponds Creek highlighted in The Age over the Christmas holidays.

Adam Carey's story gives a great overview of the history of the Creek, including its connection to local celebrity, the "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin.

“It’s always been a forgotten waterway, treated as a drain from the very early days of Melbourne,” said long-term advocate for the Moonee Ponds Creek, Kaye Oddie.

In response to our advocacy campaign for funding to revitalise the Creek, a spokesman for the Andrews State government said it would consider options in the future as the project develops. Currently the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning has committed $40,000 to develop a business case for the removal of concrete "drain".
