Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and to give everyone the opportunity to have their say on this project, the launch of our community engagement activities will be postponed until is safe.

Early planning is underway for a new Niddrie Library and Community Hub, which will combine a new larger library and a range of community spaces. It will become a central part of the Niddrie Town Heart, creating a community anchor for the Essendon North/Keilor Road neighbourhood and helping us to deliver our 20-minute neighbourhood vision.

The role of libraries has changed from places to read and borrow books, to places to connect, work and play. The current library is operating at capacity and is located in a premise with a limited lease . As part of, the Niddrie Town Heart, the new library and community hub will allow us to deliver an expanded library integrated with other Council services, as well as a range of new indoor and outdoor spaces for community use.

Over the coming year, will be conducting a “visioning” process with community to hear what is valuable about your neighbourhood, and the sorts of facilities, spaces and services you would like to see as part of the new Town Heart including the library and community hub.

We need your help to deliver a long-life facility for the Niddrie community. We need your ideas of how you would like to use the space? Do you need a space to do yoga? To hold a sewing group? A place for your school concert? A place to meet your new parent group?
