In the 1920s, when Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahoney designed the layout for the neighbourhood now known as Avondale Heights, they emphasised the importance of access to shared spaces and areas for children to play.

A century later, we are guided by similar principles as we work to create better places and spaces in Avondale Heights.

In 2023, we consulted with those who live, work and play in Avondale Heights to understand how they use community spaces. We heard about what facilities they used, what they loved about them and what they thought could be done better or needs to be provided.

We heard from over 300 people during that consultation period and wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you who got involved. That information gathered will now be used to plan for future use of community facilities in Avondale Heights. This is a big piece of work, so it may take a while for us to come back to show you those next steps. We envisage that they will be ready for review by mid-2025, in line with our revised MV2040 strategy.
