Moonee Valley City Council, with funding through the State Government (DELWP) Local Park Program, has constructed a new playspace at Strathaird Reserve, Strathmore. The original design for the playspace is here. The final design for the playspace is here.

The final built playspace includes;

  • improved access
  • increased natural shade and greening
  • a range of play equipment and natural play elements including steeping log and balancing logs to create an engaging playspace that encourages active, social, cognitive and imagination play
  • Climbing play tower with two slides
  • Monkey bars, rockers, a spinner, swings
  • a basket swing
  • Terraced rockwork
  • seating and planting throughout.

  • Consultation on this design took place from 13 October until 2 November 2022. The consultation sought to understand the thoughts of the community on the proposed design.

    The consultation involved an online survey that was available via Council’s Your Say page during the consultation period. A pop-up engagement session was also held at Strathaird Reserve on Saturday 15 October 2022. Hard copy fliers were also mailed out to local residents within 300m of the park, as well as posters put up on site and social media posts about the consultation.

    Following this consultation we finalised the design and constructed the new playspace for Strathaird Reserve, Strathmore.

    Thank you to all those who contributed to the Strathaird Reserve consultation. You can find the community consultation report here.

    Please join us on Saturday, 5 August as we celebrate the launch of this upgraded playspace at our launch event, where you can enjoy a free coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. View the event poster here.
