Background

Moonee Valley's arts strategy, Igniting Creativity, includes an action for Council to "support the visibility of our identity through our Vibrant Streets (street art) with temporary and permanent murals".

Council is seeking to create a Street Art Plan to support and identify potential commissions for street artworks that beautify and add vibrancy to Moonee Valley, and that increase the visibility of the arts in Moonee Valley.

To develop this plan, we first needed to develop a Street Art Map that plots existing artworks around Moonee Valley. We sought community input into this as well as seeking feedback about potential new sites for street artwork. For example, a business precinct or community place that could benefit from a street art activation, or even a specific wall that might be a good canvas for future artworks!

We also wanted to learn more about community attitudes to street art, what types of street art are most valued and how community members prefer to interact with street artwork.

Community consultation

Council sought to understand community attitudes to street art, and to develop a Street Art Map of Moonee Valley.

From Friday 13 March until Monday, 13 April, 2026, community members could contribute to this consultation by:

  • pinning a current street art location, or proposed street art location, on the map below
  • completing the below survey about attitudes to street art
  • recording a voice message via a Speak Pipe tool on this page
  • contacting us via the details on this page.
