Telecommunications infrastructure on Council land plays an important role in ensuring the community remains connected and has access to vital services.

At its meeting on 24 March, 2026 Council resolved to commence the community consultation process to consider new Telecommunications Leases at several sites. Full details of the report to Council and minutes can be found on the Moonee Valley City Council website.

To comply with Council’s statutory obligations contained in section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 and Council’s Community Engagement Policy, this notice is published to invite your feedback in response to these proposals.

Amplitel has remained in overholding since that time under the existing lease.

A new lease is now proposed to formalise Amplitel’s continued occupancy of the site for maintaining and operating a telecommunications network and telecommunications service, which does not involve any change to the existing infrastructure

With identified gaps in mobile coverage throughout Moonee Valley, Optus has proposed a new standalone tower at Ormond Park to provide seamless telecommunications coverage across Moonee Valley

A new 30 metre telecommunications tower with associated equipment compound at ground level on the southern end of the reserve, so as to not encroach on the use of the sportsfield
