Introduction
Did you know that Moonee Valley manages an urban forest of more than 50,000 street trees, and plants as many as 2500 new trees every year?
Council is updating its Tree Management Policy to ensure there is a clear and consistent framework for how we manage and value our trees and urban forest.
It's part of our commitment to making Moonee Valley a healthy and beautiful place for generations to come.
This policy applies to all trees owned or managed by Council, including trees located on:
- streets, roads, nature strips and road reserves
- parks, reserves and open space
- Council facilities and land
- industrial, commercial and mixed-use areas where Council is the land manager.
Have your say
Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Tree Management Policy.
Community can provide feedback by:
- completing the online survey
- recording a voice message using the SpeakPipe tool on this webpage
- emailing, phoning or writing by mail to Council
- Queens Park Cafe outdoor area on Monday, 15 June 2026 between 3.00pm and 4.00pm
- Canning Reserve pergola (near playground) on a date TBC
Your input will help shape the contents of the final Tree Management Policy, how the policy is implemented and Council's approach to communicating about tree-related matters.
In addition to seeking feedback on the draft Tree Management Policy, Council is also using the interactive map below to collect suggestions about where we could plant more trees in Moonee Valley.
