Union Local Area Traffic Management Plan
In 2025-26, Council will conduct a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study in the Union precinct. The Union LATM study aims to improve traffic and parking in the area.
The LATM study process is an approach to traffic planning that looks at the total effect of traffic management in a local area rather than isolated locations. In each LATM study, a Traffic Management Plan is developed which sets out solutions to traffic issues identified by the community and the consultant’s engineering investigations. The parking management component of a LATM study involves the collection of detailed parking occupancy data across the whole study area.
The project will be split into 2 distinct engagement phases. Stage 1 will involve broad engagement to identify issues and opportunities, and Stage 2 will involve formal consultation on draft traffic and parking management plans.
Traffic Management
The Traffic Management Plan sets out recommended solutions to traffic issues identified by the community, Council officers, and consultants.
Parking Management
The Parking Management Plan does similarly for parking. This is significantly based on two full-day parking surveys and initial feedback from the community.
