Thank you to everyone who participated in this survey.

As a result of the survey findings, Council undertook an expression of interest process to test the feasibility of a food and beverage operator utilising the building. This process was completed with a lease executed to a food and beverage provider on 17 March 2023.

The former sales office and surrounding land at 45 Valley Lake Boulevard, Keilor East has recently been purchased by Moonee Valley City Council for community benefit. The waterfront land will remain in public hands as a public space ensuring the land around the lake is available to all.

The single storey building is approximately 150 square meters and opens up onto a paved area with seating overlooking the water. The building is surrounded by open space and the lake boardwalk. Within the building there is a room with a kitchenette, a small office, toilet and basic amenities.

Thank you to everyone who completed the recent survey. We received more than 400 responses from the community.

The key findings from the survey are:

• 416 people responded to the survey, with 314 of the participants living in Valley Lake (75% of all respondents)

• The majority of people walk to Valley Lake and would like the building activated as a café (96%)

• The same proportion of people (96%) said activation of the building would encourage them to visit the lake more often

• In addition to the café, a significant proportion of people thought complementary uses such as a convenience store, wine bar, gym/yoga studio or a community room should be accommodated within the building.
