Introduction

The Montgomery Park Master Plan was adopted by Council on 29 January 2019 to guide the design and possible future development of the park for the next 15 years. Since the plan was adopted, further technical investigations and onsite developments have resulted in some changes to the proposed landscape upgrades for the park.

A key change was the construction of a new kindergarten in a different location to that shown in the master plan. This has altered the future layout of some elements in the park. Other changes include the installation of a temporary pump track, the proposed removal of the cricket nets and further viability analysis of the stormwater harvesting and treatment system.

In May 2025, following prior consultations about the master plan development, future pump track location and construction of the new kindergarten, Council consulted with community about the kindergarten landscaping design. Council is now keen to hear from community about the draft landscape concept design for Montgomery Park. This landscape concept design is the next step towards implementation of the Master Plan.

Proposed improvements within the concept design include:

  • Upgraded play space, including inclusive and nature-based play
  • Picnic facilities and seating options
  • A multi court and hit up wall with an integrated bouldering wall
  • A permanent pump track and exercise equipment
  • A multi-use platform/ stage
  • New garden beds, additional planting and improved natural shade
  • New and upgraded path connections

Community can have their say about their:

  • Overall level of support for the concept design
  • Favourite improvements for the park
  • General feedback about the proposed design
