The Melting Pot of Moonee Valley

Description:

Moonee Valley is a melting pot of people from all nationalities and cultures. Each brings their customs, foods, ideas and colour to our vibrant community.

Bright colours depict a landscape. A large pink sun on a yellow background in the top left, with fluffy white clouds across the yellow sky. Buildings sit across a pink hill and a black hill, as well as on a green area in the bottom left of the picture. Separating the yellow sky and the green area is a blue river that waves across the picture to become a large body of water with waves in the bottom right of the picture.

Belonging

Description:

Wheelchair trolleys, ramps and aids,

Open the world to me,
To access life beyond my home,
Is a chance to be truly free.

When I'm out, I like to connect,
Your smile makes me feel brave,
I want to be acknowledged,
With 'high fives', fist pumps and waves.

Though I am non-verbal,
I still like to have a choice,
An accessible Moonee Valley,

Means you're listening to my voice.

A woman and man smile at the camera. The woman kneels next to the man who is seated in a wheelchair and has a wheelchair-friendly shopping trolley in front of him with groceries.

Hands Up - For Our Inclusive Moonee Valley

Description:

My art piece depicts our multicultural, inclusive Moonee Valley. Moonee Valley is made up of people from over 100 different countries. These are written within the boundary of the Moonee Valley map. The multicoloured hands reaching up around the map are made from fabric from First Nations Australians and some of the other countries represented in Moonee Valley.

I have experienced inclusivity through my children's schooling, working in Moonee Valley, Church congregations and multicultural community events. The hands surround and support Moonee Valley - All are welcome here.

A map of the wards of Moonee Valley featuring landmarks of Maribyrnong River, Steeles Creek and the Craigieburn railway line. The image is bordered by many handprints with different designs.
