Moonee Valley City Council is proud to share our Draft Budget 2026/27 for community consultation. The second phase of consultation is now closed, and Council is considering community submissions and feedback.
Our approach to budget consultation in 2026/27
Every year, we prepare a budget that explains how we will use resources responsibly and impactfully, to deliver the services, programs and infrastructure our community needs.
It is essential the community guides our decision-making about how we fund these works
Earlier this year, we trialled a new approach to budget engagement, inviting the community to have their say earlier via a Draft Four Year Capital Works Program consultation in February.
Insights from that first phase of engagement directly informed the development of the Draft Budget 2026/27.
To learn more, read the consultation report or watch back the Hearing of Submissions from Thursday 19 March, 2026.
This shift was made in direct response to community feedback that they wanted to be involved before decisions were made. It also responds to Council’s MV2040 Strategy and Community Vision, which has at its core 'Trusted' and 'Fair' as two key directions for Council.
